My high school sweetheart Bob Green had graduated from college in 1959 and, with his father, started a silo company named Ribstone Silo Co., in Lacona, NY. In the fall of 1960, we married and moved to Lacona and lived in a 2-bedroom apartment until 1963 when we built a new home from my own drawn floor plans and design!
In 1961, our daughter, Linda Lee Green, was born and in 1965 our son, Gregory Robert Green, was born. After both were in school, I started working as bookkeeper at our office. Til then I did the payroll and etc at home. In 1970, Bob’s dad retired and we bought his 1/2 of the business. My business major served me well for 40 years in business til our retirement in 2000.
Over the years my hobby or passion for design and decorating became a total of 5 separate businesses. Those added on were four apartment houses, three mini-storages, floor planned and sold manufactured homes thru-out the state and built a new manufactured home park called “Green Haven Community”. By now we have 29 employees and 2 teenagers working.
Our daughter, Linda Lee had became a diabetic at age 9 and after high school and college became a nurse. She married in 1982. Ten years later, our granddaughter, Kaylee Lynn, a mirical "healthy" baby girl weighing 3 lbs 5 0z. was born. The next ten years were very hard! Linda had to give up nursing due to complications from her diabetes, including dialysis, two kidney transplants and loss of right leg!! Her husband "Randy" was the first live doner for her second transplant at Upstate Medical Center, in Syracuse, NY 1995. Linda passed away Feb. 10, "2003" after a 33-year battle! Kaylee Lynn was 10! We will always have a hole in heart but forever thankful for Kaylee Lynn now 17 and plans to be a nurse! She is a high school junior!
Our son, Gregory Robert after completing his education came to work for us an d with us! He married in 1990 and has three children, Stephanie, 23, Dustin, 18, and James, 7! Greg's wife and family have been a big part of Kaylee's life these passed 7 years as she and her dad "Randy" only live 3 houses down the street. Greg has filled his promise to his sister to look after Kaylee and Randy. Greg and his live next door to our house, however we retired in "2000" and are in Fl. 8 mos. a year. We bought a home in Leesburg, Fl. north of Orlando so family comes to visit thru-out the winter. When we retired Greg started his own trucking company. I guess self-employment is in the blood!
Our eldest grand-daughter Stephanie married in "2008". She and husband are in the service at present at Fort Drum, Watertown, NY. They gave us our 1st great-grandson, Riley, who is 12-months old. He is the frosting on the cake!!
Dustimn graduates in June which were we need to be and therefor unable to attend the reunion of the Class of 1960! We are so proud Dustin as he is a member of the "National Honor Society" and headed for college in Aug. for Criminal Justice! He and Kaylee flew down for spring break and spent a week, we had a ball!! They are close, like brother sister!
James is in second grade, smart as a whip, cute as a bug and a sports nut like his big brother! Also an uncle to "Riley", that's a lot of repsonsibility for a young man of 7 years old!
In closing I will say this is not only my 50th reunion but my 50th anniversary this fall! We feel blessed with a great marriage, good health, and a close knit ofamily unit
1 What more can ask!!!
For eight months of the year, we live in Leesburg, FL, north of Orlando.
